An Indiana man was arrested Tuesday for attempting to provide material support to Islamic State.
Akram Musleh, 18, was arrested by FBI agents when he attempted to board a bus from his hometown of Brownsburg to New York City. From New York he had planned to fly to Morocco and find his way to Islamic State-controlled territory.
Musleh allegedly planned to join the terrorist group.
If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a lifetime of supervised release, in addition to a fine of $250,000.
Announcing the arrest, U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler of the Southern District of Indiana said "The radicalization of American citizens by terrorist organizations like ISIL is a threat to our safety here and abroad."
