Spaniards are voting in a repeat election Sunday as Spain attempts to break a political quandary that has left the country without a government since December when parliamentary elections resulted in no party receiving enough support to form a government on its own.
Political leaders have tried unsuccessfully since December to form some sort of ruling coalition, but efforts to produce a viable candidate for prime minister have failed.
Recent opinion polls indicate Sunday's vote will be similar to the last. Some observers, however, say lawmakers may now be more willing to compromise with one another.
Last month, King Felipe dissolved parliament after a deadline passed for the existing parliament to form a government.
This is the first time Spain has had to hold repeat elections since it became a democracy in 1975.
